What to do if you receive spam

If you receive an email that you suspect is spam, we recommend using the Report as Spam plugin as the first point of call - this will report the email through to our Third Party provider and help to 'train' their AI system to recognise this type of email as spam in the future. See the instructions below for how to use this plugin.

If you have clicked on any links inside a spam email, please ensure you alert the Consulting IT helpdesk as soon as possible by emailing helpdesk@consultingit.com.au and let us know the following info:

  • Whether or not you clicked on any links in the email and provided any login credentials
  • Whether or not you have already clicked on the train message icon and marked it as spam
  • If you have deleted the email from your inbox and deleted emails
  • Attach the email (do not forward it)

It is always best to report it ASAP where possible.

Outlook - Desktop Application

To report an email as spam within the Outlook desktop application, its as simple as finding the "Train Message" icon within your top bar and clicking Spam. The email will be automatically reported to Mail Assure as spam and the email will be deleted from your inbox.

Outlook - Web Access (OWA)

The same plugin that outlook desktop uses will be installed within your OWA session. To enable a quick "icon" to appear inside each email, please follow along with our guide Mail Assure How To – Enable ‘Train Message’ Icon in OWA

You can also access the 'train message' menu by clicking on the 3 dots to the right of your email:

Find "Mail Assure Cloud Email Security"

And hover over the menus to Train Message>Spam.

Similar to the desktop version, your email will be automatically reported to Mail Assure as spam and the email will be deleted from your inbox.
