Accessing Remote Applications - RD Web Access

If you have been migrated to WVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) please see our WVD guide by using the search bar above for 'wvd'.

One way to access your Remote Applications is simply through your web browser.

If you wish to access these remote icons from your Windows Start Menu, please see Accessing Remote Applications – Remote App and Desktop Connections.

1. Open Internet Explorer (other browsers do not work correctly, so please use Internet Explorer) and type in the website address you have been provided by Consulting IT (normally https://rdweb.yourdomain.com.au/rdweb, replacing ‘yourdomain.com.au’ with your company domain [IE: for Consulting IT this is ‘consultingit.com.au’])

The first time you open this page, you will get a prompt box at the bottom of the screen asking you to run an addon. Click ‘Allow’ and wait for the website to reload.

2. Once reloaded, type in your username and password in the format indicated (YOUDOMAIN\yourusername) and select “This is a private computer” if you are working on your own personal machine and click Sign In.

3. Once signed in, all of your available applications will be displayed. Some of these might be within sub folders (as per the example folder CIT), but you should now be able to click on the application you want to run from the office.

As an example, ‘explorer’ will open up your remote network drives, allowing you to access files from the office. If Outlook was present, you could open this and view emails.

4. Clicking on any of the applications will present you will a box similar to below – it may also prompt you for your login details again. If so, type these in again in the format of “YOURDOMAIN\yourusername” and password. If there is a checkbox to save password, check this before clicking OK.

If you are presented with a warning box similar to below, please check the “Don’t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher” and click OK.
